Public meeting: We Are The University.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - 18:00

Recent moves of the Baillieu government to remove elected staff and student representatives from university councils have prompted many Victorians to ask who governs our universities and for what purpose? Inspired by the mass student uprisings in Quebec and Chile this year, We Are The University was recently founded in New Zealand as a student-led movement demanding free, accessible quality education; political freedom; democratic governance of the university; no privatisation of education. Jai Bentley-Payne, an organiser of We Are The University at Auckland University, will be leading a discussion around strategies for mobilising students, academics and workers to reclaim their universities. 6pm. Alderman (Upper Gallery), 134 Lygon St, East Brunswick.
