Under pressure from big business and the mining industry, federal and state governments have recently announced a plan to wind back essential environmental protection laws. Under the guise of cutting 'green tape', government and industry propose to hand important federal approval powers to the states and fast track approvals for large developments, as well as removing energy efficiency and climate change schemes in each state. As it stands there is no proposal to consult the community, and the changes are being pushed through by the governments as 'urgent' reforms. 6pm. 60L Green Building Ground Floor, 60 Leicester St, Carlton. Entry free. Bookings essential.
