Hosted by Caroline Le Couteur of the ACT Greens.
Recycling organic and green waste (such as kitchen scraps and garden waste) will help address climate change, reduce waste to landfill, reduce waste costs, and improve agricultural soils. So why is the ACT Government still letting all of Canberra’s organic ‘waste’ go into our landfills, where a critical resource is wasted and where it breaks down into damaging greenhouse gases? The ACT Greens have been calling for the recycling of organics. This public forum will explore why we need an organics recycling program as well as how this kind of system should work, touching on the different kinds of technologies and their merits. Two speakers with expertise in waste and soils issues will be discussing these issues. Reception room, Legislative Assembly (front entrance), London Circuit, Civic. Light refreshments provided.
