Protesters target ABC's anti-Kurdish bias

About 70 people, mainly from the Australian Kurdish Association, organised a peaceful protest inside and outside the ABC Ultimo Centre on January 14. They were protesting against the national broadcaster's bias and slander against the Kurds, despite the Turkish government's attacks on Kurdish areas in Turkey and Syria.

Protestors repeatedly asked to speak to an ABC journalist or ABC management, but were ignored. Instead, ABC staff called police who threatened the group with a $25,000 fine for trespass on "private property".

After chanting “Shame on the ABC", "Your silence is killing Kurds" and "Turkey is killing Kurds”, the group heard from representatives before taking to the streets.
