Protest opposes US wars

SYDNEY — A model drone, Guantanamo-style orange jump suits and many colourful banners were part of a 100-strong protest to mark the seventh anniversary of the invasion of Iraq (timed to coincide with the visit of US President Barack Obama that was subsequently cancelled).

Speakers included Donna Mulhearn, a christian peace activist and former human shield, Aisha Chaabou from Students for Palestine, visiting Indonesian socialist Mahendra Ignatious and Victor Hugo, Juan Campos and Anita Shirley from the Latin American Social Forum. The protest was organised by the Sydney Stop the War Coalition.
