On October 23, 300 people rallied in this NSW regional town to protest against the Howard government's mis-labelled Work Choices.

The rally was organised by the Eden Monaro People Only Want Employment Rights (EMPOWER) group, a Your Rights at Work community group formed to fight the anti-worker laws. It was addressed by Steve Whan, state Labor MP for Monaro, Australian Council of Trade Unions president Sharan Burrow and Reverend Neale Roberts from Canberra's Uniting Church.
