The seventh anniversary of the US invasion of Afghanistan was marked by a protest calling for the withdrawal of all foreign troops, organised by the Stop the War Coalition (StWC) on October 7. More than 100 people participated.

Featured speakers at the Sydney rally included new WA Greens senator Scott Ludlam, Marlene Obeid from StWC, Simon Flynn from the Fire Brigade Employees Union and Greens state parliamentarian Sylvia Hale.

StWC is organising a public meeting with Martin Reusch and Carmela Baranowska — both eyewitnesses of the Afghanistan war — on October 20 (see page 23 for details).
