The Gillard Government recently axed or wound back a number of green programs to help return the Budget to surplus. Yet, over the next four years the government will spend $39 billion on subsidising fossil-fuel use.

With the government now pledging to introduce a price on carbon, this talk will examine the role of complementary measures under such a scheme, as well as the contradictions in the government’s policies.
