Scandal! A Radical Burlesque
Performed by Lush Cabaret
Produced by Zelda Da

Political cabaret is alive and well in regional Queensland as audiences flocked to the latest production by Lush Cabaret ― Scandal! A Radical Burlesque ― which was performed in Cairns from November 27 to 30.

The talented cast and crew presented a fantastical romp through Australia's political landscape with the thrills and spills of burlesque, along with the bite of incisive political satire.

Tony Abbott's, sorry, Mr Rabbit’s, policy briefs were intimately revealed and Gina Rinehart was stripped of her assets. The United Nations Security Council negotiated the delicate art of pole dancing and showgirl glamour to meet climate change head on, with stunning consequences.

A treaty, and issues of belonging to the land, for First Nations people was both interwoven and juxtaposed throughout the performance.

Liberal Senator Cory Bernadi featured in a dream scene before the first interval along with an array of wild animal friends. The final act, “Eat the Rich”, was the culmination of a raucous ride for the 99%.

Produced by artiste provocateur Zelda Da, Scandal featured an original soundtrack of Zelda's compositions, and boasted an all-Cairns cast of exceptional performers.

Sophia Rose, Zelda Da, Zac Barclay, Dez Green, Amelia Pegrum, Kellie McBride, India Bohanna, Jesse Cooke and La Nina delivered plenty of bang for your buck.
