Picket the US Consulate: Free the Cuban Five!

Saturday, October 8, 2011 - 12:00

Free the Cuban Five! Let René González return to Cuba for his parole release!

Known internationally as the Cuban Five, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, Ramón Labañino, and René González have been in jails across the U.S. for over 13 years since they were imprisoned on politically motivated, spurious charges of “conspiracy
to commit espionage” and in Hernandez’s case, “conspiracy to commit murder”.

The Five were actually in Florida helping to keep the Cuban government informed of the activities of counterrevolutionary groups that carry
out sabotage and murderous operations against Cuba, with the complicity of Washington.

On October 7 René González will possibly be released on parole - to Florida. His lawyer is requesting that he be allowed to return to Cuba to serve unsupervised probation there. González has no close family in Florida, and Olga Salanueva, his wife, has been barred by Washington from entering the U.S.
