Photos: Doctors march for refugees

Thousands turned out for the Doctors for Refugees marches in Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Newcastle, Darwin and Hobart on November 5 and other locations on previous days.

The rallies opposed PM Malcolm Turnbull's new proposal to ban refugees who come by boat to seek asylum in Australia from ever getting a visa.

The protests also called for an end to the inhumane indefinite detention of refugees and asylum seekers, saying that refugees deserve the same access to healthcare as anyone else. Protesters also called for the complete removal of Section 42 of the Border Force Act that gags people working in detention centres from speaking out, with the threat of imprisonment.

Below are photos of the protests.
