Around 80 students rallied outside the Perth Cultural Centre on May 2 during a National Union of Students (NUS) day of action to demand a better future. Protesters called for better access to education, the repeal of Work Choices, and government action on climate change.

Speakers from the Greens and Unions WA addressed the crowd. Afterwards the protesters marched to Liberal Senator Chris Ellison's office, chanting slogans opposing "voluntary student unionism" and the federal Coalition government.
