PALESTINE: Turkish government hands over land documents

Issue

The Turkish government has handed over 140,000 pages of documentation from the Ottoman era to the Palestinian Authority. The documents from the period between 1500 and 1914 include archives documenting Palestinian land ownership in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza. The information will be used by the PA in future negotiations with Israel, in particular regarding East Jerusalem and various holy places.
