Why

Legendary Melbourne Punk Band, Painters and Dockers are performing a one-off show to raise funds for Timor Leste in the wake of the current combined crisis of increasing COVID outbreaks and this week's disastrous flooding which has caused massive destruction and displacement.

On Easter Sunday 2021, Timor Leste was inundated by catastrophic floods and landslides at the tail end of a cyclone that also devastated islands of Indonesia. Tragically the Timor Leste floods washed away whole suburbs of the capital city of Dili leaving over 11,000 people homeless and sheltering in 92 refuges across the city. Tragically there have been over 40 deaths already recorded across Timor Leste so far with more people still missing.

Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA partner organisations have rushed to provide immediate support to those who have lost everything but they need your help. By attending this fundraiser, you will be supporting partners supporting APHEDA project partners in Timor Leste including trade unions to provide direct assistance to their communitiies including the thousands of people displaced by flood damage, supporting workers and farmers whose livelihoods have been affected, mitigating the increased risk of COVID transmission and supporting farming communities facing long term impacts through flooded crops.

Ticket price ($80) includes a delicious meal and entertainment. Tables of 10 people ($800) also available.
