Oz shorts give-aways

Issue

SYDNEY — The Chauvel Cinema, in association with the Australian Film Institute, is presenting the second of the 1996 Oz shorts programs — The Shorts Gig. It will screen twice only, on Wednesday, March 27, and Sunday, March 31.

This selection consists of seven short films that confront the unpredictable: Writer's Block, directed by Leon Cmielewski; The Suit by Lisetta Moscardo; Certain of Anything by Jo Guario; The Flutemaker by Caroline Grose; This Marching Girl Thing by Kelli Simpson; Kate Toll's Speak Softly, Please, to Mrs Babajaga; and Magnetism by Paul Vincent. Witty and contemplative, in The Shorts Gig nothing is what it seems. There are tantalising performances by Toni Collette, Matt Day and a rogue typewriter.

The Chauvel Cinema is offering Green Left Weekly readers five double passes to The Shorts Gig on Wednesday March 27 at 7.30pm. The first five people to ring Green Left on (02) 690 1220 after 10am on that day will each get a free double pass.
