One in four workers in Australia is underemployed or in some form of insecure employment. Dubbed the "Precariat", many are now struggling to survive as the new working poor, and their ranks are growing fast. If the Fair Work Australia attack on penalty rates for weekend work is implemented, many will become even poorer. Can the growth of the working poor be stopped? How can workers and their unions fight back? Guest speakers: Josh Cullinan, Secretary of the newly-formed Retail and Fast Food Workers Union (RAFFWU) and Jill Hickson, a filmmaker who will present a series of short films on precarious work. Hosted by Green Left Weekly. More info: Peter 02-8070 9341 or Rachel 02-8070 9342. Entry by gold coin donation, $5 vegan meal avail from 6pm.
