Inspired by Occupy Wall Street and the global revolt against corporate greed, a diverse range of new and experienced people have gathered at several public assemblies, each of more than 40 people, to discuss building the movement in Adelaide.

Following an October 15 action where 200 people gathered in Victoria Square, the collective has held a major working bee to make banners, signs, placards to help build awareness of Occupy Adelaide.

The next event planned is a rally and speakout in front of the Art Gallery on North Terrace, Adelaide, on October 24 at 4:30pm. Afterwards, the an Cccupy Adelaide general assembly will take place, where plans for a major action on November 5 will be developed. The group hopes to carry out a several smaller actions in the lead up to make it a success and to reach out with our message of global and local solidarity in the struggle for equality, sustainability and democracy.

Occupy Adelaide also aims take action around legislation that will be put before the state parliament, effectively limiting the use of public space in Rundle Mall for any activities that adversely affect commerce, and giving the police broader powers to stop and break up political assemblies in the mall.
