Obituary

Who's gonna mourn for this rich man?

Who'll miss this millionaire?

The papers are full of their obituaries,

But who's gonna shed any tears?

Who carved out an empire

And showed that it's fair

You can read all about

His whole life anywhere,

Yeah, but who's going to shed any tears?
So, who's gonna mourn ...
Not the proud Aboriginal,

Robbed of his land,

But with love in his heart still,

And strength in his hands,

Who's told he don't matter,

This dispossessed man,

No, he won't be shedding no tears.
So, who's gonna mourn ...
Not the slow-dying miner,

Who fights for each breath,

For a lifetime of labour

It's all he has left,

Nor the one who'll care for him

Right through to the end,

No, they won't be shedding no tears.
So, who's gonna mourn ...
Not the crook politicians

Who took all his bribes,

And built up their riches

On deceit and lies?

Well, they ain't never once

For nobody else cried,

No, they ain't gonna start shedding tears.
Well,surely the family

That he left behind?

The society daughter

Her smiles has to hide,

And the widow preparing

In court for a fight,

No, they won't have time for no tears.
So, who's gonna mourn ...
