No Fracking WAy film night

Saturday, September 21, 2013 - 19:00 to 21:00

The Activist Centre at 15/5 Aberdeen St, Northbridge. Next to McIver station and opposite Devilles Pad

September 21st is the first of two global days of action against fracking this year.

In solidarity with groups around the globe No Fracking WAy invite you along to view two short films about the impacts of mining in Australia.

'Mining the Truth'
In 2012, 60 students and young people traveled to coal and gas communities around Australia. They listened to Aboriginal traditional owners, miners, doctors, farmers, parents and many others who have experienced the social and environmental impacts of coal and gas development.
Mining the Truth documents their stories.

And a groundbreaking documentary from the Lock the Gate Alliance, (the umbrella organisation for anti-fracking groups in Australia).

In 'Fractured Country- An Unconventional Invasion', the scale of the threat to Australia from invasive gas mining is clearly exposed. The film is not only informative but also inspiring as it tells the courageous stories of everyday Australians who have decided to take a stand to protect the country they love. Despite the devastating impacts depicted, the film ends on a high note - telling the stories of communities who have chosen to stand up to the mining giants and won. This film warns of what may come to Western Australia if we allow mining corporations to frack our land and water.
