Monster Saturday against power sell-off

August 10, 2008
Issue

On "Super Saturday" August 16, hundreds of activists across NSW will staff "Stop the Sell-Off" stalls in 50 NSW electorates. Part of the campaign to stop the state ALP government from privatising electricity, the stalls are expected to gather thousands of signatures on petitions, and promote the mass anti-privatisation rally planned for September 20, at Sydney Town Hall.

Unions NSW will deliver the "Stop the Sell-Off" petitions to the state ALP on September 23. If you would like to assist with distributing the 25,000 leaflets to build the September 20 rally, or help staff a petition stall on Super Saturday, August 20, contact Colin on 0419 698 396 or Trevor on 0400 008 338.

Both events are organised by Power to the People, a broad coalition of activists and groups including Your Rights at Work groups, ALP rank-and-file members, Greens, the Socialist Alliance, Solidarity, environmental and religious groups and individuals who are opposed to Labor's privatisation of NSW electricity.
