A message from revolutionary youth in Venezuela

The following is abridged from a statement received by the socialist youth organisation Resistance from the Frente Francisco de Miranda (FFM), an organisation of revolutionary youth at the forefront of Venezuela's socialist revolution.

Resistance campaigns in solidarity with the government and people of Venezuela, who are leading the fight against the Bush-Howard empire. We hope to have one of the inspiring revolutionaries from the FFM attend the Resistance national conference in Sydney, July 6-8. This statement is about the FFM's role in President Hugo Chavez's campaign to establish the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) (see the article on page 14).

Youth are the eternal generators of transformational ideas, which today are arising in the construction of Bolivarian socialism as the only road to obtaining the maximum happiness possible.

The Frente Francisco de Miranda, as an anti-imperialist youth organisation, assumes leadership in this current stage of the formation of the united socialist party, not without having internally discussed among our ranks the principles that motivate us to fight for humanity.

In December 2006, we as revolutionaries initiated a national day of debate and reflection to evaluate the work carried out during that year. We discussed our revolutionary practice, ideological unity and our ties with the people, affirming once again the need to readapt our forces in the new era of the Bolivarian revolution.

We are strengthening the principles that today identify us as Bolivarians, as youth [who are] coherent in our ideas, discourse and daily action, taking up the commitment of transforming the reality of the people's oppressed by this global and excessive dictatorship that the empire exercises over us.

The historic moment that we are passing through makes indispensable the birth of the PSUV.

The motor of history is the people; within them is the willpower to carry out the fight for liberation. Nevertheless, we need to raise socialist ideology in order to understand that unity should be a principle that all revolutionaries hold. Therefore we advance in the construction of the party; let us be at the service of the revolution, irreverent in discussion and disciplined in action, achieving the participation of the most genuine sections of the Venezuelan people.

Let us take up the challenge that our leader makes to this generation, that there exists no other mission than to be victorious!
