Tents were erected as protesters made a defiant statements indicating that they would not be intimidated by the police and council actions.

Spokesperson Clinton Pryor told Green Left that "all the homeless people on Heirisson Island are sick and tired of these raids".

"We are taking a stand for all homeless people around Perth and around the country."

After the protesters made their point, they returned to the island which has become home for many.
