Marx is back! For a short time only! After agitating his way out of the afterlife for another chance to clear his name, Karl Marx launches into a passionate defense of his life and politics. Looking at the world around him, he decries deepening inequality between the rich and poor and new forms of labor exploitation. Witty and penetrating, Howard Zinn’s “play on history” discusses Marx’s life, friendships, and family; his trenchant analysis of society, then and now, and his passion for social change.
Directed by Sarita So and performed by Anya Tate-Manning. Anya began performing Marx in Soho in June 2014 in Wellington, New Zealand.
“Marx in Soho” is written by Howard Zinn, acclaimed American academic, most famous for his book “The People’s History of America”. The show was first performed in 1995 at the Church Street Theatre in Washington, DC.
