1 Front Entertainment presents a night of conscious hip-hop at The Prince Bandroom, headlined by London-based poet, playwright, political activist and award-winning rapper LOWKEY.
Touring Australia for the first time as part of his Soundtrack to the Struggle World Tour, LOWKEY will be supported by homegrown artists Jess Harlen (performing with Plutonic Lab), Lady Lash, Lesson, DJ Billy Hoyle and comedy duo Fear of a Brown Planet....
Born of mixed Iraqi and English descent, LOWKEY first earned his name, literally, at the age of 17, when he bested a local rapper named Loki at an open mic session in central London. By 2005, LOWKEY earned critical acclaim for his mixtape, “Key to the Game”, winning Best Newcomer awards at the Lyric Pad Hip Hop Awards and in Undercover Magazine. Since then, he has released three more mixtapes as well as numerous singles, one of which reached the No. 1 spot on the iTunes and Amazon hip-hop charts.
LOWKEY has toured internationally with hip-hop legends Immortal Technique, Dead Prez and Canibus. He has built up an extensive fan base across the globe, particularly through platforms such as YouTube, where his music videos have received millions of views.
