They don't sleep at night

Stinkibank

Angry at his local bank, a Thai man covered himself in shit before entering his branch to close his account. He said his smell was more pleasing than the bank's "stink of mismanagement".

Volunteerism

@column= "Bronwyn Bishop in an aged people's home. Philip Ruddock in a detention centre. Tony Abbott in a charity for the poor. Peter Reith in a home for lost rottweilers while John and Janette busy themselves painting picket fences white." — Sue Dethridge's ideas for how politicians could spend the one hour of weekly voluntary work suggested by Treasurer Peter Costello, in an August 18 letter to the Sydney Morning Herald.

It'll never happen

"My administration has been calling up the leaders in the — in the Middle East to do everything they can to stop the violence, to tell the different parties involved that peace will never happen." Who else? US President George W. Bush, speaking in Crawford, Texas, August 13, 2001.
