SBS Cyberwatch — Throughout November, SBS will screen 10 programs — films and documentaries — relating to the world's advancing technological systems. Cyberwatch will delve into high-tech animation, factual geometry, biotechnology, the science of code-breaking, the use of technology by the state and more. It will run for 10 days, commencing Saturday, November 9.

Africa on the Web — Regular coverage of African news, politics and society does not feature in the mainstream press unless there is a crisis that cannot be ignored. With the development of the World Wide Web, you can find out the latest news without bothering with the media filters. Africa Policy Information Centre (http://www.igc.apc.org/apic/index.shtml); APIC's primary objective "is to widen the policy debate around African issues and the US role in Africa by providing accessible relevant information and analysis. Africanews (http://www.freeworld.it/peacelink/afrinews.html) is a progressive monthly e-zine that comes out of Kenya. Ghana International Review is available at http://www.ghanareview.co.uk. Mainstream African news can be found at http://newo.com:80/news/africa.html, mainstream South African news is at http://newo.com:80/news/south_africa.html and information about developments in Rwanda can be found http://www.interpac.be/rwanda/. The revelations about the senior apartheid officials ordering murders and bombings, have now become a flood in the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Check out the TRC's web site (http://www.truth.org.za/). Sangonet (the Southern African NGO network) hosts one of South Africa's the most important political sites on the Web (http://wn.apc.org/snhome.html">http://wn.apc.org/snhome.html). Here you'll find key documents on topics such as human rights, freedom of speech, housing, open government, health, education, housing, women's issues, and a South African culture page has just been added. Sangonet is part of the APC (Association of Progressive Networks).

AidWatch (http://www.peg.apc.org/~aidwatch) — AID/WATCH is a non-government partnership of people working to reform the Australian government's overseas development assistance program. Why is taxpayers' money funding disastrous World Bank projects? How much of the aid program subsidises Australian industry? Are the poor and their environment benefiting? AID/WATCH focuses attention on the environmental and social impacts of Australian aid in developing countries.

Sydney Folk Page (http://www.chepd.mq.edu.au/boomerang/SFP/Folkhome.htm) — The Sydney Folk Music Web Site keeps you up to date with what's happening in folk music, when and where, with all the sessions and your local folk clubs.
