Migrants, especially newly-arrived ones, have always been more at-risk of experiencing poverty, and more at-risk of being exploited as workers and students.
But cuts from April 1st to a federal government program that provides an allowance, casework support, housing assistance, and counselling to potential refugees, could mean homelessness and destitution for some of the most disadvantaged people in Australia.
Join us for this very important forum, where you will hear from migrants and refugees about the intense financial hardship they have experienced living in Australia, from community workers, and hear about how the attacks and pressures experienced by migrants are connected to those experienced by other low-income people in Australia.
