IRAN: Workers demand right to organise

February 23, 2005
Issue

Iranian workers are circulating a petition calling for the right to form independent unions. The petition campaign was sparked by the recent passage of a law exempting small business employers from the country's Labour Law, and by attempts to deny temporary workers the right to social security. The government estimates that within the next decade 90% of Iranian workers will be on temporary contracts.
