International Women's Day 2020

Boorloo/Perth & Walyalup/Fremantle

Why

Location: 399 Bar, 399 William Street, Perth

Celebrate International Women's Day 2020 with Amnesty International at 399 Bar Northbridge! This event is a great opportunity to listen to stories from inspiring women's rights activists and women from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Following our guest speakers, we invite all those present to share on why women's rights and International Women's Day are important to them.

This year we will be celebrating the courage and action of women's rights activists and we will be paying special tribute to Yasaman Aryani. Yasaman is a brave Iranian activist who protested last International Women's Day for a future where women are able to choose what they wear without fear of harassment, threats, violence and imprisonment. As a result of Yasaman's courageous act of defiance she is currently sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment for campaigning against forced veiling. Please show your support by listening to Yasaman's story and signing the petition for Yasaman's immediate release.

You will find us in the 'courtyard' area at 399 Bar where drinks and nibbles will be provided. The event is free but please register through eventbrite for planning and catering purposes.

Thank you and we hope to see you there!
