INDONESIA: PRD protests Yudhoyono

Issue

On April 6, members of the People's Democratic Party in Jakarta protested against Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, demanding his government be replaced. Yudhoyono has begun increasing the price of fuel, which is already causing price rises and increased desperation among Indonesia's poor. Simultaneous protests were held in Yogjakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar in South Sulawesi, Semerang in central Java, Lampung, Samarinda in East Kalimantan, Manado in north Sulawesi, Palu in central Sulawesi and Kendari in southeast Sulawesi.
