Hot Cafe

By Margarita Windisch

MELBOURNE — Hot Cafe are five talented and inspiring musicians who mix jazz with world music and take listeners on an unforgettable musical roller coaster ride through places like Spain, Russia, Ireland and the Americas.

The band's fusion of different styles is infectious, at times daring, and always professional. They move through moods and keys and manage to create quite unfamiliar and mesmerising sounds.

Hot Cafe's original repertoire is rapidly expanding and represents an exciting blend of emotions, politics and musical expertise.

You can try the "Hot Cafe experience" for yourself on Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Ruby Reds the city, and on Saturdays from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Rainbow Hotel in Fitzroy.

A CD will be out in January 1993.
