Priya and Nades came to Australia in search of peace and safety and they found it in the QLD town of Biloela. Peter Dutton’s Border Force took Priya, Nades and their QLD-born girls from their Biloela home and locked them up in detention. For the last 10 months, they have been held on Christmas Island.
Last week, Priya was transferred to a Perth Hospital for medical tests unavailable on Christmas Island. Officials stopped her husband and young daughters accompanying her.
Please join us in calling for Priya to be reunited with her family and community in Biloela. We will hear from a few speakers, ask people to participate in a photo campaign and also have materials available for you to make Priya a hand-written card/note of support that we will photograph for her and post to acting Immigration Minister Alan Tudge.
We ask that attendees please wear a facemask and keep a physical distance of two arms lengths at all times. Organisers will provide some facemasks and hand-sanitiser however it'd be greatly appreciated if you are able to bring your own. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
