Seventy people attended a protest on January 15 outside MP Duncan Kerr's office in Hobart to voice their outrage against Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Organised by the newly formed Gaza Defence Committee, initiated by the Socialist Alliance, the protest heard from speakers representing the Socialist Alliance, Resistance, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Women in Black and the Almiraj Sufi and Islamic Study Centre.

The protest called on the Australian government to condemn the killings in Palestine and suspend all ties with Israel until Gaza is free. The group plans to hold weekly vigils on the corner of Macquarie and Murray Streets every Thursday from 1-2pm until the siege has ended.
