Handbook for activists

By Stephen Bavaro

SYDNEY — The Activists Defence Network (ADN) will soon be launching the Activists Defence Handbook.

A spokesperson for the ADN says that the handbook will be available by late March or early April, which means that activists participating in the anti-bases protest in Nurrungar in South Australia during the Easter weekend will be able to understand and know their rights.

The ADN spokesperson also stated that the handbook "will be very important, in that it will help to empower activists, so that they can refer to the handbook when their democratic rights are being abused. The handbook will be clearly written and free of legal jargon.

"Many progressive lawyers have contributed to the project, as have activists such as Tim Anderson. It is essential for students, trade unionists, Aboriginal campaigners, feminists, environmentalists, peace and social justice activists."

The handbook, which will be 100 pages in length, will retail for $5, and will be available from progressive bookstores. For further information, phone: (02) 281 5100.
