The good news this week is that the Green Left Weekly Fighting Fund has reached a third of the way to its $250,000 target for 2007!
Last week a total of $8231 came in from our supporters, bringing the total raised so far this year to $82,257.
The biggest single individual donation last week was US$1000 from Barry Sheppard, a long-time reader and supporter of GLW who lives in the US. Barry is a veteran socialist activist now living in San Francisco. He writes regularly for GLW and is a contributing editor for the magazine Links. He is the author of The Party, a memoir about his early years of activism as a member of the Socialist Workers Party in the 1960s (published by Resistance Books
Barry's generous donation from within the belly of the US imperialist beast follows a donation of the same amount by Peter Camejo, the running mate for Ralph Nader's US presidential campaign in 2004 and several time Green candidate for governor of California.
In this age of the internet, many thousands of people read GLW line for free. Some 36% of these readers live in North America. If more of those readers could match Barry and Peter's contribution to the GLW Fighting Fund we'd move even faster towards completing our target.
