Launched last month, Green Left TV is steadily building up video content on both local and international struggles for justice, to complement the weekly newspaper and Green Left website.

Green Left TV viewers can check out coverage from the "Aotearoa is not for sale" Hikoi, a series of protests across New Zealand that began on April 24 to challenge the privatisation, rampant mining and anti-social agenda of the John Key National Party government. The protest is being led by Maori elders and their grandchildren.

Also new to Green Left TV is a video covering the highlights of the 250,000-strong people power protests in Malaysia for free and fair elections, entitled Bersih (clean), plus footage from Australian solidarity rallies in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

Closer to home, one of Green Left TV's most popular piece so far is a clip of recent anti-coal seam gas and anti-fracking rally in Perth, which was disrupted by council and police who disgracefully (and bizarely) confiscated stalls, leaflets, and even petitions.

A further video outlines the "contraband" that was confiscated and later released to activists involved in the protest.

Other videos added recently to Green Left TV's YouTube station include an April 24 equal marriage rally in Perth and a short interview with Afghan anti-war activist Malalai Joya while she was in Australia.

Carlo Sands also brings his Carlo's Corner column to Green left TV with an initial rant on Clive Palmer.

As mainstream TV sinks to ever lower levels of corporate dominated advertorial trivia, Green Left TV is striving to provide grassroots alternative coverage that, like the newspaper, stands firmly on the side of the oppressed, the exploited and those denied a voice in the corporate media.

You can subscribe to Green Left TV. We are also on the look out for activists interested in helping to produce videos. If you'd like to help (training can be provided), email GreenLeftTV@gmail.com or phone Paul on 0410 629 088.
