A telephone poll of 700 residents of Gloucester and the Manning Valley conducted by ReachTEL on July 27 showed 73% do not want the NSW government to not approve the Rocky Hill coalmine that GRL wants to build within a kilometre of the town.
The poll also found 58% of residents thought that the mine would adversely affect tourism and 63% agreed it would adversely affect the health of the Gloucester community. Groundswell Gloucester spokesperson John Watts said the Gloucester community will be forced to endure noise, dust and toxic blast fumes six days a week until 10pm each night.
