One of two unnamed individuals who have been arrested in Germany for possession of weapons and a “kill list” of prominent left-wingers was a police officer, the Morning Star reported on August 29.

The pair had been discussing “refugee and migration policy”, which they claimed would lead to the “collapse of public order,” via online chat groups, the article said. Authorities said they saw “an opportunity to hold and kill representatives of the leftwing political spectrum”.

An MP for Germany’s Die Linke (The Left), Martina Renner slammed “agitation against the left”. She asked authorities to say how long they have been in possession of the kill list and whether the individuals on it have been told.

It comes after an army lieutenant was arrested earlier in the year for terrorist activities, suspected of planning a false flag attack which would be blamed on Syrian refugees.

Stefan Huth, editor of German socialist newspaper Junge Welt, told the Morning Star that compiling lists of left-wingers to attack had a long history on the far right. Huth said federal investigators had to get involved because of suspected links between fascists and local police forces.
