Geelong meets for reconciliation

GEELONG — On November 1, about 200 people packed into the Geelong West Town Hall to discuss the future of reconciliation in Australia. The main speaker was Dr Mick Dodson, the chairperson of Council of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island Studies.

Dodson spoke on making sure that "the reconciliation of the future is not a re-run of the past" and dedicated his speech to Charles Perkins. He suggest that if all activists were like him, reconciliation would be a lot further advanced than it is today.

The meeting was organised by the Wathaurong community and the Geelong One Fire Reconciliation group and everybody was encourages to go to the Walk for Reconciliation in Melbourne on December 3.
