Professor Bill Mitchell will give a talk about his upcoming book, which will discuss the reasons the left has abandoned progressive policy positions and, increasingly, moved towards a neoliberal stance in macroeconomic policy, which has left them without a meaningful agenda. The presentation will also outline key elements of a progressive manifesto (Part 3 of the book) including employment guarantees, industry policy, fair trade, the state as an entrepreneur, sustainable energy policies and more. 7pm. New International Bookshop, Trades Hall, 54 Victoria St, Carlton.
