KATOOMBA — Stepping up its campaign against the state Labor government's plan to privatise NSW electricity, People Power Blue Mountains held a public meeting on August 9, attended by 75 people.

The meeting was addressed by local Labor MP Phil Koperberg, climate change expert Mark Deisendorf and NSW Greens MLC John Kaye, among others. Participants called on Koperberg to commit to vote against the privatisation legislation in parliament, and unanimously passed a motion to write an anti-privatisation charter that links the issues of public ownership, climate change and renewable energy, jobs and consumer protection to present to politicians and interest groups for their support.
