HOBART — A group of supporters gathered in Hobart on June 2 to celebrate the swearing-in of the new president of El Salvador, Mauricio Funes. Funes stood for the left-wing party Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front.

Supporters ate traditional El Salvadorean tamales and watched part of Funes's inauguration speech, in which he promised to reveal details of the country's financial situation to the public and take measures to overcome poverty and inequality.
