Showing of 2 films: Fatena followed by Black Panther Woman. Fatenah is a Palestian animation inspired by true events and stories, amalgamating them into one narrative that details the struggles of every day life in the Gaza Strip, and the arduous steps taken to receive health care. Black Panther Woman: Unlike their American comrades, who numbered in the thousands across the nation, the Australian chapter comprised of just ten members. In one heady year, this small group of young Aboriginal people staged educational theatre shows, kept watch on the police on what were called 'pig patrols' and were at the forefront of indigenous right's campaigns and demonstrations, Including the Aboriginal Tent Embassy. Black Panther Woman tracks Marlene through past, present and future, and delves into the movement and moments that shaped her. 3pm. RRR Performance Space, 221 Nicholson St, Brunswick East.
