“UTOPIA” is an epic new production by the Emmy and BAFTA winning filmmakers and journalist John Pilger.
This is the sad story of a sadly neglected people. A report out of the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research ranked the vast region, known as Utopia, as the most disadvantaged in the nation.
The region of Utopia is a vast area in northern Australia about 300 kms from Alice Springs and is the home of the oldest human presence on earth.
“This film is a journey into the ‘secret’ country,” says Pilger. It will describe not only the uniqueness of the first Australians, but their trail of tears and betrayal and resistance – from one utopia to another.”
