Film screening: NUKLIR JAWA: A DOCUMENTARY

Friday, July 5, 2013 - 17:00

Nuklir Jawa is a documentary film that depicts the debate and controversy surrounding Indonesia’s desires to build a nuclear power station in Central Java. Focusing on the revival of nuclear power and the strong opposition of civil society groups in the post-New Order era in Indonesia, this documentary illustrates the public discourse on high-risk technology in an emerging democracy.

Showing how different social groups hold conflicting ideas and perceptions about nuclear risk, this documentary deepens our understanding of the relationship between technology and society in the Southeast Asian context.

Watch the film and participate in a discussion with the film producer, Sulfikar Amir.
