Directed by the mysterious artist "Banksy", Exit Through the Gift Shop is a brilliant examination of the underground street art culture, and an intriguing commentary on the commercialisation of art. Through the video camera of a French immigrant living in Los Angeles, we search for and ultimately find street artists Space Invader, Shepard Fairey, Banksy and others, providing a personal view of a shadowy culture.
In bizarre ways the film deals with the "trendiness" of street art, the millionaires who want to purchase Banksy and other artist's work, and the contradictions and potential sellouts that it brings.
A film that will fascinate and surprise you, with the real meaning seeming almost as elusive as Banksy himself.
