Fairfield prepares for Carnivale

SYDNEY — Multicultural Fairfield in western Sydney is preparing for a range of activities during Carnivale, January 22 to February 6. Cabravale Park and Freedom Plaza, Cabramatta, will come alive for the famous lion dancing and fireworks to celebrate Chinese New Year.

A feast of performances and exhibitions will include poetry recitals, spinning demonstrations and chamber music. A highlight will be two one-act Spanish plays by the drama group Actovivo. English subtitles will be projected on a screen during this performance, at the Fairfield Arts Centre, 19 Harris St, 7.30 p.m. February 6.

As well, there will be a bilingual reading of The Wedding, a play written by women in the Fairfield area, at the Whitlam Theatre, Railway Pde, Cabramatta, on January 27 at 6 p.m.
