Eyewitnesses from inside Australia’s remote detention camps

Monday, May 9, 2011 - 18:00

On the Easter weekend, about 60 refugee activists, including members of Sydney RAC, traveled for over two days by bus to the Curtin detention camp in remote outback WA, as more than 300 asylum seekers staged a hunger strike and sit-in. In a separate visit, Jo Hind from Chil-Out has inspected conditions on Christmas Island. This public forum will hear eyewitness accounts, accompanied by photos, from these trips, and discuss conditions in Australia’s remote detention camps
