EYA activities
The Environmental Youth Alliance's new office Sydney was launched on September 10.
Indonesian environment activist Helmi Fauzi thanked EYA for the solidarity shown with the Third World, particularly EYA's efforts to protect the threatened island of Siberut. Elle Morrell and James Clarke outlined some of EYA's recent activities and future plans, including a high school tour and the building of opposition to the proposed new nuclear reactor at Lucas Heights.

In Adelaide, organised a public meeting on Saturday September 5 called "Living In Adelaide". Speakers from EYA, Young Christian Workers and Adelaide University Environment Office focused on the issues faced by young people, such as cutbacks to public transport and unemployment.
Emma Webb from EYA told the meeting, "As young people fighting for environmental justice, we must recognise the issues concerning our cultural environment ... Young people are becoming more and more isolated by the society we live in — but it is young people who are leading the fight to change society."
