Eureka Week
Firstly, on Sunday Nov 28 at 6pm in the Prince Albert Hotel, Wright Street the Spirit of Eureka Committee (SA) has invited Paul Adams, author of the newly released book, “The Best Hated Man in Australia – The Life and Death of Percy Brookfield, 1875 – 1921″ to speak about the Great Strike of 1909 in Broken Hill. This event should prove very popular so get there early. Paul Adam’s book will be on sale and so will Humphrey McQueen’s book, “Framework of Flesh”!
Secondly, on Friday Dec 3 at 1 pm on the steps of Parliament House, there will be a speech by Wayne Hanson (Australian Workers Union) about the “Significance of Eureka and its relevance to today’s struggles”. Afterwards the gathering will go over to Government House and place the Eureka Charter at Her Majesty’s Gates, demanding a new Australian Constitution with a Bill of Rights!
